2014 Women’s World championship- Day 2 Pool T

Hosts Algeria started their campaign with a straight sets win over Nigeria at 2014 Women’s World championship qualifier African Pool T held at Harcha Hacène Hall in Alger, Algeria on Monday, while heavy favourites Egypt fought for more than two hours to beat Cameroon in a thriller five setter.

Led by experienced stars Fatima Okazi and Lydia Olumou, Algeria overcame Nigeria 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-13) in 72 minutes. Opposite spiker Olumou led her team scorers with 14 points, while Nigeria’s Esther Dusu led her team scorers with only 8 points.

Algeria started their way with 1-0, while Nigeria dropped to 0-1

Egypt who failed to qualify to the 2010 World Championship needed 132 minutes to overcome fighting Cameroon in epic tiebreaker 3-2 (25-18, 26-28, 25-19, 22-25, 18-16).
